About Fresh Motive and how this course is put together

Fresh Motive is a small publication with one piece of content: a five-step course for Australian households meeting online games for the first time. This page explains who publishes it, how it was written, and how it is paid for.

Who publishes this

Fresh Motive is published by Favorit idea s.r.o., a company registered in the Czech Republic.

Where the course has an author, the author is the Favorit idea s.r.o. editorial team. We do not put individual names, photographs or titles on it, because the course is not a personal account and nothing in it rests on who wrote it rather than on the sources it cites.

How the course was structured

The five steps follow the order in which decisions actually arrive in a household: understanding what is being asked for, working out what you have, reading what the vendor says, creating the account, and then the ongoing part. Each step was written to assume only what the previous step explained, and each ends with a checklist so the reading turns into something you can act on.

Every term is defined the first time it appears. Where a step could have been written as a walkthrough of one company's screens, it was written in general terms instead, because screens differ between vendors and change between versions, and a general sequence stays correct for longer.

What each step relies on

Sources behind each step
StepMain sources
Step 1 — what it involvesGeneral category description; the Australian Classification Board register for classification; the eSafety Commissioner on social features.
Step 2 — what you needVendors' own published system requirements; the Classification Board register; the ACCC on consumer guarantees.
Step 3 — reading the termsThe OAIC on the Australian Privacy Principles; the ACCC on consumer law; Scamwatch on imitation sites.
Step 4 — setting upThe Australian Cyber Security Centre on passphrases and multi-factor authentication; the eSafety Commissioner on display names and settings.
Step 5 — living with itThe ACSC on updates; the ACCC on refunds; the eSafety Commissioner on reporting; the OAIC on access and correction.

Those organisations are linked where their material is used. None of them has any connection to this site, has reviewed it, or endorses it. Where a claim is specific to one product, the source is that vendor's own published material; where the vendor does not state something, the course says so rather than estimating.

What we do not do

We do not test games, measure performance, or compare products against each other. We publish no ratings, scores, awards or benchmarks, and we do not carry reader reviews or quotes, because a site with a commercial interest in one product cannot carry those honestly. The worked example that runs through the course is an invented household, described as such, and it reports no results with any product.

How often this is reviewed

The course is reviewed at least twice a year, and sooner if an Australian source it links to changes materially or a reader points out an error. The date of the most recent review appears in the footer of every page. If you find something wrong, write to us — corrections are the most useful mail we get.

How this is paid for, stated plainly

Fresh Motive carries no advertising and sells nothing. It is funded by affiliate commission: Step 2 and Step 4 link to the Star Stable Online website, and if a reader signs up through one of those links, the affiliate network that operates the link pays us a commission. The reader pays the same either way.

So yes — the one product named in this course is a product we have a commercial relationship with, and that relationship is why it is the one named. We would rather say that in the open than present it as an independent pick. What the relationship does not do is decide what the steps say: the method in Steps 1 to 5 works identically for any online game, the course never tells you to buy anything, and the facts stated about that product are limited to what the programme material states. The full explanation is on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

What this site is not

It is not the official site of any game or publisher, not a partner or reseller, not a news outlet, and not accredited training. There is no enrolment, no certificate, no account and no mailing list. All brand names here belong to their owners.
